About School
Vasant Valley School, New Delhi was established in 1990. It is a self-financing day school affiliated to CBSE. It was ranked fourth among the day schools in India in the Education World-C fore India’s Most Respected Schools Survey 2011. The school’s 8 acre campus has modern infrastructure and fully equipped laboratories. Whilst high academic achievement is a priority, the school aims to create a community of well-rounded individuals, where a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect exists among the students and teachers. The school organizes several activities throughout the year with an emphasis on the student’s intellectual and emotional growth. Established by the India Today Group, Vasant Valley is a prep-12 school. Students of classes XI and XII prepare for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (A.I.S.S.C.E.) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school offers eighteen different subject choices at the elective level. Each student is required to take four elective subjects along with English core. The school also offers and encourages extra-curricular activities like sports, debating and quizzing and has a good history of students participating in prestigious debates throughout the country. The day at Vasant Valley is long - it starts at 7:20 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. School timings for the month of January are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. The students are expected to make punctuality a habit. Children must be in school by 7:20 am and must be picked up from the dispersal area at 3:20 pm. After 3:30 pm parents will be expected to pick up the child from the school office. For children of Foundation the timings are 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and for Nursery from 7:20 am to 1:40 pm. The day begins with a short assembly - a prayer, brief silence and a rousing song - that fills the entire Vasant Valley family with a sense of oneness and verve. Then all children disperse to their classes for a few minutes with the class teacher who helps the class settle down for the day. There are 8 periods for the senior school, 9 for the junior school and three recesses. The recesses in the junior school are a little longer than in the senior school. The nursery children sleep for an hour after lunch.
